Obadiah Dugan founds the Star Gospel Mission

The Mission is incorporated

The Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church building is purchased

June 28, 1929
Faith Cottage on Sullivan's Island is donated to the Mission

June 28, 1936
Obadiah Dugan dies and is succeeded by his son, The Rev. Ernest Dugan

June 1, 1970
The Rev. Ernest Dugan, Jr. succeeds his father as superintendent

Sunday School in the early days of the mission

June 18, 1978
J. Douglas Donehue becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mission

September 29, 1989
Hurricane Hugo damages The Star Gospel Mission and Faith Cottage beyond repair

June 15, 1996
The new Star Gospel Mission building is dedicated and J. Douglas Donehue becomes its first Executive Director

April 24, 2004
The Star Gospel Mission celebrates a century of Christian service to Charleston
